047 – How is your Attitude?

This episode hits on a few places where attitude in the fire department needs to be addressed. It is easy to get wrapped up in the negative attitudes around the fire station. Especially as firefighters, we are constantly exposed to tragic situations. One of our biggest goals in the volunteer and on-call fire service is firefighter retention. We need to be focusing on how to make sure our members that we have right now won’t walk away from our organization. A lot of it comes down to attitude.

040 – Article Review and Ask Us Anything

This episode was something we have been working on for quite a while and was originally going to be two separate shows. However, due to an unknown technical defect the audio came out like below our standard. We strive to always give our audience quality material, but due to situations beyond out control our recordings came out like crap. But, we encourage you to listen to this extra-long episode even though we don’t sound as clear as usual.

Why is it extra long? Well, because we couldn’t possibly upload two separate shows in a row with terrible quality. You all deserve better than that.

So, this show highlights two articles. One written by Jack Kline of Syracuse.com titled “Make volunteer firefighting fun again”. The second, written by Ed Dolan is titled “19 Ways to slow the bleed in the Volunteer Fire Service”.

The 2nd half of the show is our Ask us Anything episode where we answer questions from you, our listeners.

Please come back next week for an episode with better quality!
