097 – Advice To The Young Recruit

This episode hits a little bit on the current COVID-19 situation. It then moves into a list Nick has put together. An advice list for us senior members to give to the new, young recruits joining the fire service today. The list is just a foundation for you to build upon. It is in no particular order, and based on Nick’s opinion only. Take it and shape it to your needs. However you do it, it is necessary for today’s recruits.

096 – Wednesday Box Alarm – Support Local Business

How many times each year do the local businesses step up and support your fire department? It doesn’t matter if you’re a career fire department or a volunteer fire department, there comes a time where you rely on local businesses to support some sort of cause. Now is the time to return the favor. During this outbreak of Coronavirus, restaurants are losing a lot of business.

094 – Wednesday Box Alarm – Training During COVID-19

We are all dealing with the COVID-19 virus and wondering if we will ever be in the clear. Hopefully it won’t last too long and we will be back to our normal, every day routines. But, while we’re dealing with all of this we need to not put our training aside. It’s easy to use this as an excuse to cancel our training nights, but there are ways around it.

092 – Wednesday Box Alarm – Throw It Away

This week’s late Wednesday Box Alarm was inspired by the act of cleaning out the garage. After a busy week and a half of traveling for work and for the Podcast, Nick Hilton recorded this quick show on the fly while decluttering. If you were to look around your fire station, chances are there is one corner of the building dedicated to hoarding old equipment that hasn’t been used in years. Maybe it is time we all start throwing things away.
