What’s next?

In August of 2018 Brotherhood Academy Radio (BAR) came to life with the very first podcast episode.  It sure wasn’t the best quality of podcast episodes, but it was our very first.  Salvaged from an old movement that was “Save Volunteerism in the Fire Service”, the content and followers were transitioned into what we have right now.

What is BAR about? What is our “why”?  Too many volunteer and call fire departments across the United States are in trouble and are unable to keep up with the current demands of today.  We are passionate about finding solutions to the problems many fire departments are experiencing.  From recruitment to leadership to fundraising, there is plenty to be discussed.

The first year, or should I say the first half-year, brought 10 podcast episodes, a freshly designed website with blog posts and resources, a new Instagram and Facebook Page and a whole new following.  It has been a quick venture so far to say the least.  Time seems to have just flown by and there is so much more to do.  There are so many more resources to provide, content to create and departments to visit.

What will 2019 bring for us?

More Podcasts: 10 podcasts in 6 months is going to look like squat compared to what is coming.  We plan on producing more recordings, reaching out to more guests and bringing you all the best listening there is in the Fire Service podcast community.

Videos: BAR has a YouTube channel, but there isn’t much there to speak of right now.  We plan on beefing things up with video tours of fire departments, interviews with guests and valuable content from the hosts.

Resources: With time on the department comes, for most of us, experience.  We believe that experience should be shared among the fire service community.  We will be bringing more resources to help improve every fire department in recruitment, retention, training, fundraising and much more.

Engagement:  We will be reaching out to the community for more engagement and interactions.  We want to create a tribe that is dedicated to helping each other come up with solutions.  We want to create a platform for that tribe to use to easily communicate with each other.

Don’t look at this as a “New Years Resolution” or a “to do list” for 2019, but more of an attack plan for the next year.  Personally, I don’t believe in New Years Resolutions, as they only ever last a week.  I believe that if you want to accomplish something you should start now.  Don’t waste any time. Don’t make excuses.  Get out and do the work.

Thank you all for your support thus far.  I am truly happy to have you all here, listening, sharing and commenting.
